RUSSIA UKRAINE WAR- A SMALL DARK AGE( ANDH YUG)

The Mahabharata is a more accurate representation of the world's political, social, and cultural environment. Several languages have been translated over the last century. Furthermore, numerous literary works have been influenced by little situations and anecdotes. Dharamvir Bharati's play Andha Yug is one of several literary works inspired by the Mahabharata.

Andha Yug, published in 1953, could be considered a seminal post-independence play. It is a watershed moment in Indian theatrical history. Written only a few years after the Partition, it reflects on the tough time of the Holocaust that claimed countless lives. The play draws attention to this fact. Independence, peace, and prosperity cannot be attained via violence or division. Wars cannot effectively tackle the fundamental existential challenges of human beings.

In Dharamvir Bharati's Andha Yug, the retelling of the final day of the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandavas is interpreted as a representation of the war between two modern political states.

Andh yug is shedding light on the Russia Ukraine war, which influenced the entire world and instilled fear of a third world war in the minds of all people. Is fighting required to bring about peace and prosperity? We have all grown up hearing the account of the Mahabharata war in Kurushetra. The novel Andh Yug by Dharam Vir transports us to the eighteenth day of the conflict. The events of the Andh Yug are comparable to the Russia-Ukraine war. Neither the Kurusthetra nor the Russia-Ukraine war resulted in peace. It has only brought destruction and loss. People's feelings of hatred are unavoidable.

The Mahabharata more accurately portrays the current political, cultural, and social conditions. Andh yug highlights the notion that true independence, peace, and prosperity cannot be reached through war or division. Wars cannot solve humanity's fundamental existential problems.

As previously said, the moral and political challenges depicted in andh yug are still important in the twenty-first century. This new technological era is maybe the eponymous age of blindness, surrounded by a dark sort of war between Russia and Ukraine. The Russia-Ukraine conflict can be described as "a small new dark era."How Dharam vir has cautioned the readers about a dark age. He urges them to better themselves since it is the only way to escape the growing darkness and evil. The fight is so chaotic at first that there is no clear line between right and bad. This demonstrates Russia's assertion that Ukraine is theirs, and it is only natural that they want their land back. Putin believes he is correct because Ukraine should be taken in order to reestablish "The Great Soviet Union."

Actually, Shri Krishna intervened to put an end to the Mahabharata when the war of Kurukshetra was almost certain. During that period, he served as a peace messenger to the Kauravas, pleading with them not to fight. According to legend, before the battle, Shri Krishna visits Hastinapur and encourages the Kauravas not to fight. It is also said that the Pandavas have returned from exile and have offered the Kauravas half of the kingdom, but the Kauravas have refused. He has the option of simply offering five Pandavas after that, but Duryodhana refuses even that. Shri Krishna's peace efforts fail in this case, and the war is not avoided.Furthermore, it is believed that Duryodhana not just to listened to Shri Krishna during this time, but also attempted to confine him. After then, Shri Krishna displayed his Celestial form. In the Mahabharata, this occurrence is significant. If the Kauravas had obeyed Shri Krishna at this time, the Kurukshetra war could have been prevented. It is said that in such cases, there has always been a history of sending a peace proposal addressing the war, and Ukraine is also referencing to this incident and calling with India to act as a mediator so that this disagreement can be settled.

The Mahabharata war is the essence of the world, describing various aspects of life. During the Mahabharata conflict, Lord Krishna revealed the essence of the Gita to Arjuna. The Mahabharata war was the most bloody in recorded history. On both sides of the battle between the Kauravas and the Pandas, many warriors were murdered.

The US has acted similarly to Shakuni in the Mahabharata throughout the Ukraine issue. The primary difference between the Kauravas and the Pandavas in the Mahabharata war is that the kingdoms joined the Kings and their armies on the Kurukshetra battlefield, whereas US, NATO, and EU forces were unwilling to commit boots on the ground. In fact, while it was a beneficial step by default, the presence of US and NATO troops in Ukraine may have resulted in a European war, which could have escalated into a world war, culminating in a nuclear disaster. Even after losing its people, Ukraine continues to stand strong against Russia. In this video, we witness Gandhari, who lost 99 of her sons yet remained strong. Humans are led to believe that conflict may solve their material-cum-existential issues by feelings of hatred, envy, and disdain. The playwright emphasises that wars bring no solutions, either temporary or lasting.

Ironically, they worsen the situation.Andha Yug draws certain incidents from the Mahabharata, one of the major epics. It transports readers to the eighteenth day of the great Kurukshetra war, which is designed to eradicate adharma from the earth. A slew of events had already occurred that precipitated the conflict. They are not featured since the playwright appears to emphasise the end of the war.

As a result, waging war in the name of religion, gods, truth, or honour cannot be justified. Nobody can say that war is required, in some inexplicable divine fashion, to keep the world at peace, dharma, and prosperity. Attempts to eradicate 'evil' or 'vice' from the earth's surface are illogical and absurd, as virtue and vice are inextricably linked in human nature. There is no such thing as a pure form of any of them. Andha Yug states her position unequivocally. The Kurukshetra war, which happened to settle the succession question of Hastinapur's kingdom, can be paralleled to the Russia-Ukraine war.
